Addressing the gross misrepresentation of disability in Indian films.
Design Research, Data Synthesis, Co-creation, Facilitation, Prototyping
Films are an integral part of our society and hold the power to influence the way people see each other. From our year-long research on the discrimination against disabled people, one point that consistently came up was that most disabled people find their representations in Indian films to be unrelatable, often stereotyped and objectified. This has not only caused great distress and frustration to the community, but has also wrongly contributed to the social stigma and shame around disability.

We are working to enable authentic representation of disability in Indian films by making creators recognize ableist narratives, become disability-allies, and increase disability-visibility.
